Shot at the iconic Rivoli Ballroom in South London, Clowns plays out a macabre comedy of murder and desire, asking how far will we go in the name of entertainment. While the performance combines bold, exhilarating and tribal movement with a percussive, cinematic score, the choreography of the camera provides theatrical ensemble shots and close-up sequences that draw the audience members straight into the madness of the interaction between the ten dancers on stage.

A young boy accidentally squeezes his pet bird to death. Not realizing what happened he turns to his mother for help. But mother has no time for him and leaves him alone in the house as she rushes off for work. While the sun sets the bird resurrects itself and confronts the boy with his actions.

Called by a mystic dream, Derya finds herself surrounded by souls steeped in the Islamic Sufi tradition. They join in hypnotic movements and stirring rhythms, dissolving into a pool of silence. Tarikat is a visual poem about the endless search for enlightenment. It received the 2016 Cinedans Jury Award.

Three sisters grow up in a broken home. They are at each other’s mercy and survive as long as they are together. But is their loving connection strong enough to endure their gloomy surroundings? Sisters received the Cinedans Audience Award 2018, amongst others.
