Moving Media Lab Workshop – Movement through and with a lens

 

Discover the Art of Movement and Filmmaking!

Dive into the world of cinematography and movement in our hands-on workshop, Movement through and with a lens, led by audiovisual designer Steven Elbers and mixed media artist Albert Rask, both part of Moving Media Lab, a project on interdisciplinary working practices, initiated by Cinedans.

 

Learn to manipulate the spectator’s gaze through techniques like motion blur, focal tenths, and aspect ratio. You’ll alternate between filming and movement exercises, culminating in a screening of your own creations at OT301.

Are you a dancer or choreographer looking to elevate your skills in dance film? Don’t miss the Canon & Cinedans Masterclass: Capturing Movement on Film, led by celebrated film director Tommy Pascal and Canon experts.

This one-day masterclass on March 21st at Eye Filmmuseum is free to attend, with prerequisites. Offering hands-on training in camera techniques, choreography integration, and cinematic storytelling. Canon experts will also introduce participants to the latest filming equipment for dance films.

Are you a student in an art institution in the Netherlands or abroad? And are you developing a dance film/installation or media project that could use an expert’s eye to elevate it to the next level?

Cinedans invites students to submit their new project proposals in which dance and movement form a leading narrative. Five projects will be selected and the invited makers will get the chance to pitch their plan to industry professionals during Cinedans FEST in March ’25. The winner of the Cinedans Student Pitch will win a prize of €500,- and receive advise for the development of their plan.

You can submit films in two categories: 

- International Short Film Competition: short films up to 25min (submission fee €20)

- Out of Competition: films longer than 25min, features, documentaries (any length), installations, stereoscopic films, VR films and other project proposals. (no submission fee)
